"Okay, so, have you ever sort-of-kinda gotten back in touch or crossed with someone after awhile, and after a few minutes of talking about the old days, things get quiet and a little awkward because you realize that the 'old days' are all you really have in common anymore?"

Wow. I don't think you could have characterized our friendship any better. I have to say, I'm completely relieved that you recognize this as well. Now we can stop pretending to be friends and finally move on with our lives. Best of luck, I guess.

As the other half of this dynamic evening, I was also surprised by how easy it was to just slide back into friendship with you. Surprised not because of you, but because of several past failures in this arena.

I fault lack of cell phones, lack of Internet and lack of cars as the reasons that our original acquaintance faded to black so many years ago.

It was exciting to break the "green olive and bacon" pizza out of retirement after so many years of people cringing when I mention the best combo in pizza history. Hope you like sodium!

So, we're back in the saddle--I hope this time, to stay.
